That sounds obvious, but successful animal control is rarely as simple as putting something in a trap and hoping an animal finds it. Experienced trappers know that the animal itself is the starting point. Before choosing a bait, setting a trap, or deciding where to place equipment, you have to understand what the animal is doing, where it is traveling, what it is looking for, and what can make it stop and investigate.

That's where Backyard Baits® comes from.

Backyard Baits® was developed by people with years of hands-on experience trapping, observing, and working with wildlife. That experience has taught us an important lesson: animals don't read labels. They respond to their instincts, habits, curiosity, food preferences, scents, and surroundings.

Our job is to understand those behaviors and develop attractants that work with them.

EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD MATTERS

There is a tremendous difference between knowing what an animal is called and understanding how that animal behaves.

A raccoon doesn't simply behave like a "raccoon bait customer." A groundhog doesn't automatically investigate every food scent placed in its territory. A skunk may respond differently from an opossum even when both are traveling through the same backyard. Squirrels, rabbits, mice, armadillos, and other nuisance animals each have their own patterns and preferences.

Trappers learn these differences by spending time in the field.

They learn to read tracks in the dirt. They recognize trails through grass. They notice which side of a fence an animal is using. They look for digging, feeding, rubbing, scratching, droppings, hair, and other evidence.
